Our first video file is now available– COIMK episode 1. To watch it, you’ll need Quicktime 7 since we used the new H.264 compression technology.
In the future, we’ll use this space to go into more depth about our featured artist. But since our featured artist this time is me, we can skip that part. We’ll talk more about what we discovered about ourselves during this process and how we grew as human beings.
Ryan handled the recording and pretty much mixed what you hear in the video the very same day. Dan L handled the mobile cam and cut together the video from all three sources. I acted as guinea pig in front of the mics and cameras because I’m the biggest attention whore of the three of us.
Quite a few lessons were learned from this early experiment:
- A table lamp with aluminum foil used as a light reflector doesn’t do much in the way of lighting.
- Allowing cats and dogs to coexist in the same room while the show is happening adds to the overall entertainment value of the show.
- Making eye contact with someone you care about while performing can be distracting. Michelle and I locked eyes early on, and we both almost lost it.
- A full-grown man walking around on the hardwood floor of a house built in 1948 can be noisy.
- If you forget the lyrics, don’t just sit there; make something up.
We all had a spectacular time making this. (Marlene normally looks that bored when she’s super-excited.) We hope you all have a great time too. The after-party at Sushi Marina was off the hook, chain, and wall.
